Feed management of the cattle plays a very important role in any agricultural economy. We have observed that even today, cattle-rearers and farmers in our country are struggling to keep their cattle healthy, which is their main source of income. Some cattle-rearers and farmers, even when they have cows and buffaloes of advanced breeds, are still not able to take full advantage of the milk production capacity of these cattle. The main reason for this is that as cattle-rearers and farmers are still unfamiliar/unaware with the basic rules of animal science, they do not feed their cows and buffaloes in a scientific manner.
For proper growth and milk production of cows and buffaloes, it is extremely essential to include balanced amount of various nutrients in their regular diet. Low or high amounts of nutrients have a profound negative impact on their physical growth and milk production. Thus, feed expenditure (about 70%) incurred on them gets wasted.
